During Spring break, the Club's College Bound program took 53 high school members from our Cleveland, Chatsworth and Canoga Park High Schools on five campus tours to Cal Poly Pomona, Pomona College, UC Irvine, CSU Fullerton and CSU Northridge. Throughout the year, members have worked closely with College Bound's Site Coordinators and Case Managers to develop a plan for a post-secondary education and have learned about university requirements and expectations. These campus tours were an opportunity for our members to visualize themselves on a university campus and fully envelop the college-going experience.
Key highlights of the tours included presentations from Cal Poly Pomona's Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) Department; a Q & A with members of Hermanas Unidas;- a student organization aimed at empowering Latin women with a focus on education, leadership and community service at CSU Fullerton;, a history of Pomona College's liberal arts campus, a guided tour of UC Irvine from a College Bound alumni; and a thorough tour of CSUN's VEX Robotics Club lab. Members had an amazing week visiting all five campuses and are already looking forward to visiting more schools during our Summer program!
