Students participate in 27th Annual Chicano/Latin Youth Conference
On April 30, 2016, students form Canoga Park and Cleveland High Schools participated in the 27th Annual Chicano/Latino Youth Conference. The conference was held at UC Riverside;the keynote address was given by Dolores Huerta, the American labor leader and civil rights activist. The conference goals were to educate and inform students about Chicano/ Latino history, politics, and culture.
The conference featured a variety of speakers, cultural presentations, and workshops -ranging from topics such as students to Latino Communities and Environments and their local struggles,-designed to provide students with the tools necessary to make a difference and pursue a higher education. The students enjoyed a campus tour of UC Riverside and asked questions about the different fields of study within the University. They enjoyed a performance by the folkorico team and were given the opportunity to network during the lunch break with various school representatives.
